“Odd Species: HAL9000” is an immersive audiovisual experience that reinterprets Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey” through the perspective of its artificial intelligence agent, HAL 9000. Through compelling sound design and minimalist visual elements, the work reconstructs HAL’s journey from ambitious controller to its ultimate deactivation, transforming the complex narrative into an emotionally resonant experience. The installation creates a compelling parallel between HAL’s story from 1968 and our contemporary relationship with AI, inviting viewers to reflect on how our coexistence with artificial intelligence has evolved from a science fiction to daily reality.
